 Changing of the guard also represents a change for me. Efforts organising and sponsoring a big competition event in Melbourne for 2025 proved unsuccessful. Fifty four years of selling and promoting in the RC hobby business, I've kept the Futaba bits n pieces I need for personal and commercial RC flying use, and began clearing out products two weeks ago. There are a few genuine Futaba Air and Surface bargains left. Once an item sells out it will automatically be removed from the website    

Model Sports in Dapto NSW is the last traditional  business hobby shop I can recommend for specialist RC flying advice. Dave is a Master rated F3a and IMAC competitor who can design, build his own designs and program the radio. I've known the McFarlane family for years. Met them at a Trans Tasman comp in Dapto 

Traditional FAI competition scene has depleted to the point where a dozen or so competitors taking over a club field for two days is the new "awesome." Old Fokkers running clubs in Melbourne, sitting on bundles of cash, have forgotten the value of airshows to raise aeromodelling's community profile and donating proceeds to charity. That aspect of aeromodelling's importance in the overall scheme of things has become rather introspective. Quite selfish. There is value spending money on promotion in a declining market but selling that message has passed me by

As models continue to outgrow the airspace required to remain within Area Approval boundaries, explaining landings of the more vertical nature into an adjacent property might prompt the next generation to attach more importance to promotion, sponsorship and flying neighbourly
